HP has recently released a BIOS update for the zv6000/r4000 series of notebook pcs. This update, called F1.C, supposedly resolves an issue where users may get a Blue Screen (BSOD) error when using the USB ports and Cardbus (Express54) slot. I, for one, have never experienced this issue therefore I cannot comment on whether or not the issue is improved upon or resolved.
A side note-
I have recieved more than one email stating that after installing this BIOS update your system may no longer boot into Windows. I have not personally seen this issue. However, I have had difficulty in the past when attempting to update the BIOS using the Winflash utility — to the extent that my system was effectively ‘bricked’ and had to be sent to HP for warranty repair.
Typically, a BIOS flash can cause a PC not to boot into Windows if one of the following settings is reverted to default after being changed… or simply changes: APIC mode, ACPI settings, Power Management (S1/S3/s1&s3), and Cool & Quiet. If you are one of the ones affected by this update check these settings first.
My experience with laptops has been the following. As a general rule, **do not** update your BIOS unless your system is specifically affected by the issue that the new BIOS addresses, *especially* if your notebook is no longer under warranty. I have found through my own experiences that flashing the BIOS on a laptop is much more troublesome (and problematic) than doing so on a desktop. There are several more “technical” reasons for this, but the one I will hammer home here is this one: Most laptops do not have a stand-alone OS disk that does anything less than a complete re-format and fresh install of Windows (plus associated “bloatware”) and will not do a repair install.

The Xpress 200m and its OpenGL problems 
I don’t know a lot about chipsets, drivers, and kernels, but I read an article recently about Vista and how Microsoft was,at first, trying to get everything natively directx. I thought I read something about opengl being translated into directx. But…. then people got mad and things changed.
So, my question. If Microsoft was going to be able to do that (if I read correctly), will the 200m chipset work better on Vista? Has anyone been able to try openGL games in Vista yet?
I have tried it on Vista and it is still HORRIBLE 😦
I run Vista Ultimate and XP Media edition on the same machine in virtual PC and they both run Opengl apps just fine. I do run 4 gigs of RAM and a quad processor. You just need a robust hardware configuration to run such applications. As a rule of thumb, whatever the minimum specs necessary to run any applications, realize that the software programmers are not taking into consideration whatever other apps you are running, so you need to be mindful of what you have currently installed and the resources that are being used by your other programs. In short, don’t expect to run programs that are high in usage without upgrading your machine and not run into trouble.

My name is Dayger Cruz and I just read a little bit about your experience with ATI 200 I have a HP dv8000 with ATI REDEON and this Laptop is having some problem with the display on the screen any time I boot the computer some times it just goes all black and white stripes on the screen and I just have to move back and fort the screen until the image stabilize itself even now writing this email the image is shake a little bit , I also notice that if I have a picture on the desktop back ground it get worth or with any page that have many features on the graphics . I hope you can help me with some advice for this matter?

I’ve just managed to get my ATI xpress 200M and it just works by using Windows Vista
i’m one of the affected ones.. i used to receive a lot of blue screens when connecting any usb card.
i tried these steps:
format the computer
reinstalled all drivers
upgrade bios, then i got a new blue screen while updating
now my computer is dead, i’ve reading about how to recover the bios, phoenix has a floppy recovery… but i duno…
hp Tech support was useless by the way
my warranty is out of date too.
if someone has information regarding this specifically issue any help would be valuable.

Since there is presently no known permanent cure for serious gastrointestinal distress, it

According to package insert dosage instructions, Reglan was only intended to be taken
for up to three months. People who have taken this drug for longer than the three–month
prescribed period have sometimes developed a seriously debilitating condition known as
tardive dyskinesia.
Recently, the FDA has issued a public health warning to both patients
and physicians with the intention of avoiding additional instances of this devastating disorder.
No treatment is currently available to treat tardive dyskinesia symptoms. Many of these side
effects are irreversible and permanent.
